About us

The Burnier International Ocular Pathology Society (BIOPSY) was created in 2008 to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Henry C. Witelson Ocular Pathology Laboratory, now MUHC-McGill University Ocular Pathology & Translational Research Laboratory, located within the Research Institute at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada. Under the direction of Dr. Miguel Burnier, the Laboratory has had hundreds of trainees, including ophthalmologists, pathologists, fellows, residents, graduate, medical and undergraduate students, graduate from the lab since its inception - all of whom are current members of the Society. The Society holds biennial conferences to unite past and current lab members and to encourage ongoing research in the fields of ophthalmology and pathology. We are lucky to have Dr. Maria Antonia Saornil as the current President of BIOPSY.
